Starting this post with the breathtaking view of the valley that cusps the village of Slaidburn in Lancashire is, in my opinion, the best way in this particularly case. Justine and I spent 4 nights and 3 days at our friends' farm. It was very different from town life; lichens grow on dead branches and you can see wild rabbits hopping about. The night sky is clear and stars are visible, unlike in town where we live. The farm is isolated and it is perfect to just breathe fresh unpolluted air and really hear the sounds of nature. Of course, there were also some great pieces of machinery that one would expect to find on a farm; tractors, ATVs and giant mowers that get through the rushes easily...or, at least, that's the plan;)
The small village and nearby towns were interesting too, glowing with the pride of historical buildings and traditional shops. The lovely tea shops were also duly visited and tried:)
One cannot fail to appreciate the golden daffodils that grow on the roadside and on the numerous farms.
